Das Auto decided to try its luck on the hybrid segment as the German carmaker unveiled its latest creation in the form of 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid.
Some of you probably already knew that the official introductory took
place at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. Das Auto doesn’t go full hybrid
with its Jetta as this sedan is actually combining the advantage of
hybrid and old-school engine.
The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid sedan
is getting its power from a turbocharged 1.4L TSI that offers total
power output of 150 ponies and the additional power comes from 20 kW
electric motor. The combined total power output for the 2013 Jetta
Hybrid is 170 horsepower with 250 Nm of torque. The power is being
transferred into the front wheels by a seven-speed DSG transmission.
Why proposing the idea of 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid now? The obvious reason is because Das Auto wants to achieve
its greener production plants target by 25% and because other carmakers
are already take the plunge into the hybrid segment, and then it would
be wrong if VW doesn’t participate in it. So, how can that Volkswagen so
confident that their 2013 Jetta Hybrid is ready to compete at
eco-friendly market segment?
The technical details on the 2013
Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid starts from the 20% less fuel consumption if we
compare it with the petrol powered model and the US cycle figure is 45
mpg. Being a hybrid doesn’t mean this sedan can’t go for a sprint as it
successfully hit 0 to 60 mph in less than 9 seconds. Choosing the
electric-only mode, the 2013 Jetta Hybrid offers 44 mph or 77 km/h for
the top speed with distance covered around 1.3 miles or 21 km.
